How Tipping Bucket Rain Gauge Works
What Is A Rain Gauge?
A rain gauge is a specialized meteorological instrument that can measure the amount of precipitation in a given area over a period of time. More common are siphon type, tipper type, optical rain gauge, weighing rain gauge and so on. The tipping bucket rain gauge is one of the most commonly used in meteorological monitoring.
How Does A Tipping Bucket Rain Gauge Work?
The tipping bucket rain gauge is composed of measuring parts and rain receiver parts. When it rains, rainwater enters the water receiver from the uppermost water-receiving port, falls into the water-receiving funnel, and flows into the tipping bucket through the funnel mouth. When the water accumulation reaches a certain height, the tipping bucket loses balance and overturns. And every time the bucket dumps, the switch turns on the circuit and sends a pulse signal to the recorder. The recorder controls the self-recording pen to record the rainfall so that the rainfall process can be measured back and forth.
Stainless steel is high-alloy steel that can resist corrosion in the air or in chemically corrosive media. Many of the common tipping bucket rain gauges on the market use this material to make the wall of the rain gauge.
Compared with these tipping bucket rain gauges, the most outstanding feature of JXCT stainless steel tipping bucket rain gauges is that all parts of the equipment, such as the tube wall, tipping bucket, funnel, and water outlet, is made of stainless steel, which is resistant to erosion and high and low-temperature changes. Good resistance can be used in a variety of harsh outdoor environments for a long time, stainless steel is not afraid of aging, and prolongs the use time of the rain gauge.
The tipping bucket rain gauge plays the two major functions of rainfall collection and data transmission in weather monitoring, and can continuously measure rainfall, rainfall duration, and rainfall intensity. So that the rain entering the rain-bearing mouth does not splash outside the rain-bearing mouth. The inner diameter of the rain-bearing mouth of the all-stainless steel tipping-bucket rain gauge is 200mm; the edge of the rain-bearing mouth is blade-shaped, and the blade angle is within the range of 40°~45°, which meets the requirements of the national standard and effectively ensures the accuracy of rainfall monitoring; There are two types of products with a resolution of 0.2 and 0.5, and it supports two types of signal output: 485 signal and pulse type.
The all-stainless steel tipping bucket rain gauge of JXCT adopts an integrated rotary positioning structure design for tipping bucket bushing, and its tipping bucket adopts a three-dimensional streamlined design to make tipping water smoother and has the functions of self-cleaning dust and easy cleaning; its tipping bucket components support The system is well-manufactured and the frictional moment is small, so the tipping bucket parts are sensitive to flip, stable performance, and reliable; it can be used for more than 7 years in an environment with a temperature of 0-50°C and relative humidity of not more than 90% (40°C condensation).
